Celebrating 10 Years of BoomerBroadcast

Ten years and exactly one thousand essays later (my high-school English teachers would be shocked), I think I can congratulate myself for actually sticking with it. When I posted my first BoomerBroadcast message Those Were The Days My Friend to baby boomer readers on September 14, 2013, I wasn’t sure I would have the stick-to-it-iveness to keep blogging. Did I have the stamina? Would I be able to come up with new topics to rant and rave about on a regular basis? More importantly, would anyone actually care to read my musings?

I was surprisingly prolific in the beginning. In those first three weeks of September 2013 alone I posted an incredible twenty-three times. I suppose I had a lot of pent-up material that I needed to share with the world and get out there as quickly as possible.

There have been times when I wasn’t getting any Likes or Comments as feedback and I thought about packing it in. It felt like my efforts were an embarrassing waste of time, but the bottom line is BoomerBroadcast is a labour of love and I can’t help myself.

I can’t help myself. I love doing what I do.

As of September 14, 2023, I still love blogging and I hope my readers are enjoying my rants. We all need a retirement pastime and BoomerBroadcast revs me up each day. I’ve struggled with learning new software and I try to keep abreast of what’s new and happening.

Baby boomers are rapidly disappearing as a demographic, not just literally but socially as well. We are not the 18-45 age group marketers mistakenly think still represents the majority. I will keep broadcasting and hope you will continue to support me in advocating for baby boomers.

Thank you for reading, for providing feedback in the comments, and for sharing life’s journey with me. My silent partner (pictured below, well, mostly silent) and I say merci beaucoup, mes très chères.

You represented the boomers so well with all your blogs and you did have a lot to say on our behalf. After all, we were raised by the silent generation that kept way too quiet & expected us to follow. We’ve come a long way baby. Keep going for another decade now that we are entering the “Get Off My Lawn” phase of life. 🤣🤣

What would I do without my friend Gail to cheer me on after every post. And, I would never yell at you to get off my lawn – you’re usually sitting there with me swilling wine. Thanks so much for all your support, Gail.

As someone who took a university course in essay writing, you could probably teach this amateur a thing or two. So glad you’re still reading BB. Thanks, Carol.
