Call me old-fashioned but I love getting mail, the kind now referred to as snail mail. If a day goes by that I don't get a magazine or something personal in my mailbox, I can get downright cranky. My girl gang went to the movies this week to see Rocketman, the biopic of Elton John, and we really got our money's worth. Encouraged by how much we enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody we expected a spectacle just as great. Glory hallelujah! It’s road construction season again. Help wanted

It's a common cliché here in Canada—we have only two seasons—winter and road construction. As I drive around the city and surrounding countryside I'm experiencing my annual surge of anger and frustration with the state of our transportation system. Once the snow melts, roads and highways are cordoned off, lanes reduced and then nothing happens. IF there's any activity on the site, two bored-looking workers are wandering around with a shovel in their hands but most often there's nothing going on.
